From 11 to 22 October, La Tranche sur Mer is proud to be hosting the European Skimboard Open and the French Paddle Race Championships, in partnership with the Fédération Française de Surf and the Ligue de Surf des Pays de la Loire. To celebrate surfing and introduce the general public to this culture, the local council is also organising the Fête de la Glisse, from 18 to 21 October.

THE BONNE VAGUE FESTIVAL: THE SURFING FESTIVAL

Alongside the competition, the "Fête de la Glisse" is an event for the general public. On the Place du Capitaine Bigot, the exhibitors' village will be the ideal place to meet people involved in surfing and to learn how to surf at different sites in La Tranche sur Mer. The programme includes surfing, paddle and windsurfing lessons, as well as skateboarding, rollerblading and beach volleyball.
For younger visitors, inflatable structures, painting workshops, a science tour with experiments to carry out, and a make-up workshop will round off the programme of festivities.
The Fête de la Glisse is also committed to protecting the ocean, with a special focus on eco-responsibility. There will be "intelligent walks" to collect rubbish on the beach, creative recycling workshops and guided tours by the LPO and the Tourist Office. A special highlight will take place on Saturday 18 October with Corlie Glémas, who will share her incredible 1,500 km journey to protect the oceans.

MUSIC AND CINEMA TO ROUND OFF EACH DAY

Once night falls, the atmosphere kicks up a notch. On the music front, two concerts will set the stage alight: the national reggae ensemble on Saturday 18 October and the rock group Mazingo on Monday 20 October. There will be a bar and light refreshments on site to make the most of the event.
Film buffs won't be left out either, with a special evening at the Agnès Varda cinema on Sunday 19 October to discover the winning films from the Brest Surf Film Festival. To round off the Fête de la Glisse, there will be a morning screening on Tuesday 21 October of the documentary "2024, les toits de Paris en Seine", in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
